What we record, and why
We record what you tell us so that we can plan your trip. This page says what that is, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Tonquani is run by Xongile Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, number 15928544, whose registered office is 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. Xongile Limited decides how the information on this page is used.
What we record
Enquiries. When you send the form on our Plan a safari page, we record what you entered: your name, email address and phone number, the countries you are interested in, when and for how long you would like to travel, who is travelling (including how many children), what matters to you, your budget range, how you heard about us, your message and the two consent choices on the form.
Chat. When you plan with us in our chat, we keep the transcript of the conversation.
Phone calls. The phone number shown on this site may be one of several numbers we use to see which page or advert led to a call. When you call us, we record the number you called from, the number you dialled, and when the call was made and how long it lasted. We do not record the conversation itself. If nobody answers and you leave a voicemail, we record the voicemail, turn it into text, and keep both the recording and the text with your enquiry.
How you arrived. When you first visit, we set a cookie named tonquani_session that lasts 90 days. With it we record how you reached the site: the address of the page that sent you, the page you landed on, any campaign tags or advertising click identifier in that address, your browser’s description of itself and your internet address. We use this to know which advertising or link led to an enquiry or a call.
Email. We keep the emails we exchange with you about your trip.
Why we use it
To reply to you and to plan, book and look after your trip; to keep the records a business must keep; and to see which of our advertising brings enquiries, so that we spend on what works. If you ticked the box for our occasional letters, we also send you those, and you can stop them at any time.
Who else sees it
Our website and its records are held by Cloudflare, which also turns voicemails into text. Phone calls to us are carried by Twilio. Our emails are sent through Resend. If you go ahead with a trip, we give the camps, lodges and transfer operators the details they need to take your booking.
If you reached us by clicking one of our Google adverts, we tell Google Ads when that click led to an enquiry, and later whether the trip went ahead, using the click’s identifier and the value of the trip. That report does not contain your name, email address or phone number.
Cookies, Google Analytics and Google Ads
We would like to use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, and the Google Ads tag to measure our advertising. Neither loads, and nothing is sent to Google from your browser, unless you press Accept in the cookie notice. If you accept, Google sets its own cookies for these purposes. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page.
We set two cookies of our own: tonquani_consent, which remembers your choice for a year, and tonquani_session, described above.
What you can ask us to do
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for a purpose. We will do so unless the law requires us to keep it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
